Cloisters: Remarkable Cathedral Survivors

Join Janet Gough OBE for a look at the beauty, architecture, and history of cathedral cloisters.

Medieval cathedral cloisters, originally spaces linking monastic buildings, mostly survived Henry VIII’s Dissolution of the Monasteries. English cathedral communities recognised the practicality of cloisters and experimented with cutting-edge architecture in their building, creating extraordinarily beautiful spaces. Janet Gough OBE explores the development of England’s cathedral cloisters with spectacular photos, to encourage visitors to look beyond cathedral churches.
